De Vries impresses Brundle: 'That will surely have sealed him an F1 seat'

Not one but two Dutchmen were on the starting grid for the Italian Grand Prix last Sunday. Nyck de Vries was unexpectedly invited to take part in the Monza race, and the Mercedes reserve has put himself in the spotlight. The same goes for Martin Brundle, who is convinced that De Vries' performance will earn him a permanent seat in 2023.
Brundle impressed by De Vries
De Vries turned a good qualifying result into points on his Grand Prix debut, which also earned him the honorary title of Driver of the Day. Brundle is confident that the driver has secured himself a permanent seat for the 2023 Formula One season. "That will surely have sealed a seat for him somewhere next year," he said in his column for Sky Sports. "De Vries brought his Williams alive."
Meanwhile, Max Verstappen drove towards his eleventh win of the season. "Max claimed his fifth straight victory with ease. I'm not sure Ferrari could have done anything to stop him but once again it appeared that the team relied heavily on their drivers' views on tyre strategies," Brundle stated.
The analyst adds that it is now just a question of when Verstappen will win his second world title. Brundle suspects it will happen in Japan or Austin, but does not rule out Verstappen taking advantage of the next opportunity in Singapore.
