Wolff aims for win in Singapore: 'Has to be suitable'

Mercedes are still hoping to pick up a Grand Prix victory this season, but time is running out for that. With six race weekends to go, the German racing team are increasingly focusing on 2023. Toto Wolff, however, sees opportunities in Singapore.
The Formula 1 season will continue with a race in Southeast Asia in early October. It is a moment for Mercedes where it can take full advantage of the car's strengths, as the drivers will be driving with maximum downforce in Singapore, among other things.
On the other hand, with the Marina Bay Street Circuit, as the track is called, Mercedes will face a street circuit. Earlier in the season, Lewis Hamilton and George Russell still struggled on such a track, so Wolff does not dare to hope too much yet.
"The layout of the circuit has to be suitable for our car," Mercedes' team boss noted at Auto, Motor und Sport. "We still believe that Singapore will be one of our better circuits. But at the same time, we want to be careful with predictions."
Mercedes battles with Ferrari
Mercedes may still hold out hope for second place in the constructors' championship. The difference with Ferrari is 35 points, giving the formation still something to fight for. Red Bull Racing will almost certainly grab first place, which is the first time since 2013.
