Perez reacts to Mexico contract extension: 'Super proud of my country'

The Mexico Grand Prix has been extended for three years. Sergio Perez cannot believe his luck. The Mexican still dreams of a home victory at the circuit and will give everything this weekend to achieve that goal.
The race in Mexico is incredibly popular. Every year, hundreds of thousands of fans travel to the circuit with its legendary stadium section. "In other places, around the world of course I see Mexican flags, but what I get to experience here is something super special for me. The contract is great for our country. We can show how good the Mexican people are, show our country. Formula 1 gives you that exposure world wide. Super proud of my country to secure another contract with Formula 1," Perez began in the press conference broadcast by Sky Sports.
Last season, Perez became the first Mexican driver ever to finish on the podium in his home race. This year, the Red Bull Racing driver hopes to go one step further by taking home victory. However, Perez knows it will be a difficult task. Not only teammate Max Verstappen is aiming for victory, but Ferrari drivers are also hoping to win in the final stages of the season. Mercedes has yet to win a race in 2022, something Lewis Hamilton and George Russell are looking to change.
Perez dreams of victory in Mexico
"I've dreamt about it a few times [the win]! It would be massive for me, that's the target. It will not be easy and we need to be perfect throughout the weekend. All the focus will be on the racing stuff, to maximise the weekend. At the end of the day, it's another weekend with the same amount of points but it's a special one for me," said the 32-year-old driver.
