Hamilton wants to extend contract at Mercedes: 'He looks very motivated'

Now that Red Bull Racing has the constructors' title in its pocket, all focus is on the battle for P2 between Ferrari and Mercedes. Timo Glock believes the Italian team could be beaten by Lewis Hamilton and George Russell in the closing stages of the season.
Max Verstappen has secured his second world title, while his team managed to win the constructors' title in Austin. It is now all about prestige and money between the other teams in the championship. Ferrari currently holds a 40-point lead over Mercedes with two races to go, Brazil and Abu Dhabi.
Toto Wolff himself revealed that he would rather win a race this season than have his team overtake Ferrari for P2. A higher spot in the constructors' championship means more prize money, but also less wind tunnel time. At Sky Germany, they look ahead to the Brazilian Grand Prix.
'Mercedes can definitely overtake Ferrari'
"Ferrari keeps making mistakes, so it is not impossible that they will still be overtaken by Mercedes. The forty-point lead with only two races to go is pretty big, but nothing is impossible," Glock is quoted by Speedweek.com. In Mexico, Mercedes managed to finish ahead of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc. Ferrari, however, expects it was a one-off poor performance.
Lewis Hamilton, meanwhile, has revealed that he wants to extend his expiring contract at Mercedes. "He continues to look very motivated, he showed that in Mexico. The Mercedes package worked very well there. They have increasingly got to grips with the problems from the beginning of the season and can also call on the potential at different circuits. This shows the strength of Mercedes, which with Lewis Hamilton and George Russell can definitely overtake Ferrari in the standings," the former Formula 1 driver ends.
