Mercedes backs Schumacher: 'Belongs with us'

If the rumours, Haas will announce on Tuesday that Nico Hulkenberg will drive for the team in 2023. Mick Schumacher, who finished 13th at the Brazilian Grand Prix, will therefore have to look for a new challenge after two seasons in Formula 1.
Slowly all the remaining pieces of the puzzle are starting to come together. It is also becoming increasingly likely that Daniel Ricciardo will return to Red Bull Racing, where he will work as a test and reserve driver. The Australian does not seem to be opting for a similar role at Mercedes, which also wanted to contract him. But with Schumacher, an alternative is available.
Value very much
It has been rumoured for some time that Schumacher could go to Mercedes, provided first-choice Ricciardo does not come. Words from Toto Wolff after the race in Brazil only reinforce that story. He said to Bild: "I make no secret that the Schumacher family belongs to Mercedes and that we value Mick very much." He did not say whether this means Schumacher will sign a contract with the team.
Bild also writes about a minimal chance of Schumacher getting a seat next season after all. Should Logan Sargeant fail to get enough points for a super licence, the German would be in the picture to join Williams. The chances of that are slim, as the American is getting closer and closer to that much wanted super licence.
