News? 'Haas announces second driver on Tuesday'
- GPblog.com
Team boss Günther Steiner hinted at the announcement of the second driver at Haas last week. He revealed it won't be long until we know who is occupying the last season at Haas. Steiner said he hoped it would be known before the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix who will be in the second car next to Kevin Magnussen.
There have been further reports that we will find out next Tuesday at least according to information from Motorsport-Total. The website also referred to other media, such as Swiss Blick, which has already reported that Nico Hulkenberg has been contracted by the US team.
No surprise
Hulkenberg's signing would not come as a surprise. Rumours have been around for some time that the German will replace Mick Schumacher. Schumacher has been at risk of losing his seat and it appears he's not the man for Haas. This year, Schumacher has - except for a few moments - failed to convince. On Saturday, for instance, he started last in the sprint race in Brazil, while his teammate Kevin Magnussen captured pole.
For Schumacher, this seems to put an end to his Formula 1 career (for now). However, the German could possibly join Mercedes as a reserve driver. Schumacher could reportedly end up there if Daniel Ricciardo decides to decline an offer from Mercedes.
