Arthur Leclerc will drive in Formula 2 for the DAMS team next season. The team reported this on Monday via a press release. The younger brother of Charles Leclerc thus makes the switch from Formula 3 after two years.

The 22-year-old Leclerc made his debut in Formula 3 in 2020 and immediately won two races in his first season. In 2022, he won his third race in Formula 3 and captured the Formula Regional Asian Championship title. This year, Leclerc finished his second season in Formula 3 in sixth place.

Leclerc will drive for French team DAMS. Last season, DAMS finished sixth among constructors in Formula 2. Driving for the team then were Red Bull Junior driver Ayumu Iwasa and the much-criticized Roy Nissany. Which of the two drivers will be replaced by Leclerc is not yet known.

Leclerc will first participate in the test days next week at the Abu Dhabi circuit, immediately after the Formula 1 test day. From next March, Leclerc will then officially join the Formula 2 season. That season starts at the same time as Formula 1 on 5 March in Bahrain.
