Jos Verstappen: 'Max is just a bit done with everything now'

All Formula 1 drivers are in need of a well-deserved holiday after the long 2022 season. So is Max Verstappen, for whom the winter break comes at just the right time. According to father Jos Verstappen, the Red Bull Racing driver was a bit done with this season by now.
Verstappen was done with it
Speaking after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Jos Verstappen says that the winter break has come at just the right time for his son. "He's just a bit done with everything now. Especially when you have won the championship, then the pressure is off and it becomes less exciting," the Dutchman said in conversation with Viaplay.
For the two-time world champion, there was not much left to achieve, except more victories. He managed that through a convincing win at the Yas Marina Circuit. "For Max, I think it was just important that he broke that record with those wins. I think that's the most important thing," the former F1 driver continued.
Everyone within the Red Bull Racing team realises that the current dominant form will not be a certainty in 2023. "To be honest, I do think it will all be a bit closer next year. That is also the intention of these regulations. I don't mind. Good battles on track and a good championship until the end would be fantastic," Jos Verstappen said.
