Mercedes are early: W14 brought to life for the first time
- GPblog.com
Formula 1 drivers are recovering from a busy 2022 season, but behind the scenes the teams are working hard to develop the new car. At Mercedes, the engine of the all-new W14 has been running for the first time.
Like last season, Mercedes is also there early this year. The Brackley-based racing team ran the new car's engine for the first time. The gap towards Red Bull Racing and Ferrari turned out to be a lot bigger than expected at the beginning of the season. Mercedes has therefore been busy all year developing the W13 further to narrow the gap. In the closing stages of the season, George Russell managed to take home a victory for the German team.
Mercedes does know it still has a lot of work to do during the winter break to ensure it can compete for the title again in 2023. That is why the W14's engine can be heard early again. In a video on social media, fans can admire the first sound of Russell and Lewis Hamilton's brand new car.
