Alpine announces Doohan as reserve driver for 2023 F1 season

Apart from the unveiling of the A523, Alpine managed to bring another piece of news on Thursday night: Jack Doohan will officially become the team's reserve driver in the 2023 Formula 1 season.
Doohan is the reserve driver for Alpine
While Doohan was still part of the Red Bull Junior Team from 2017 to 2021, he swapped Red Bull Racing's training programme for Alpine's in 2022. The 20-year-old Australian later described that as the "best move of his career" given the increased number of opportunities it has given him in the top class of motorsport.
That choice now proves to be brilliant for the Australian because he lands a new role as a reserve driver at Alpine, increasing his commitment to the team. Doohan enjoyed success in Formula 3 championships in previous years, before making a permanent move to Formula 2 in 2022.
There, the son of motorsport legend Mick Doohan made an immediate impression by winning three races and also finishing on the podium three times. He finished the season in sixth place and will no doubt have his sights set on the title in his second season in the class.
