Ocon confirms he had seat fitting at McLaren but failed

Esteban Ocon has confirmed he's had a seat fitting at McLaren but failed because of his height, as the MCL33 could apparently not accommodate the large frame of the 21-year-old.
It's been quite an unfortunate month for Ocon. First, he looked Renault-bound, until they went and signed Daniel Ricciardo to line up next to Nico Hülkenberg next season. Next, Lawrence Stroll bought Force India and took his son Lance with him to the team, essentially kicking out Ocon. Now, Ocon tried to get a fitted seat at McLaren, but even that went wrong for him.
"It's true that I went and it's true that that happened," the Frenchman told Marca.
Whether Ocon can now no longer join McLaren is not known yet, but it does make things more complicated. Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff chimes in on the whole Ocon situation.
"In Budapest we thought his future was clear," the Austrian said.
"But it all changed within 48 hours.
"There is no point in complaining.
"Renault getting Ricciardo was a no-brainer, they had to go for it.
"It's unfortunate for Esteban, but we are continuing to help him to find a seat.
"There is a lot of interest and I'm very optimistic about the future," he concluded.
