Verstappen speaks of good day: 'Short and long runs were good'
Max Verstappen can look back with satisfaction on how Friday went for Red Bull Racing. The 25-year-old Dutchman revealed afterwards to GPblog and others that he is happy with how the RB19 behaved on the Spanish circuit.
"I think we had a very good day, the car was in a good window and of course you try to fine tune a few things here and there but short run, long run everything looked quite good," Verstappen said. "I mean from my side I felt very comfortable in the car looking after the tyres, I mean I still need to look at the lap times of others but from our side it was a good day."
Track adjustments
The circuit's last chicane has been removed since this year, making lap times much faster. After two free practice sessions, Verstappen is excited about turning onto the straight with much more speed. "It's been a lot more fun to drive, I mean everyone's cars in general they feel better in high speed so for me the last two corners are much better to drive."
The two-time world champion even tried to follow some cars in front of him as well. "I tried to follow a few cars as well and it seemed actually quite ok through there as well so yeah positively surprised for the overtaking." The chicane was removed to promote overtaking, so then the circuit would have made the right choice.
