For Lewis Hamilton, talk about a new contract has been in the air for weeks. Every weekend, both the seven-time world champion and Mercedes’ team principal, Toto Wolff, get asked about when will he sign his new deal.

At the Thursday press conference in Montreal, the seven-time world champion has not cleared up anything regarding his contract situation. "We never hooked up. No, we never had pizza," Hamilton said jokingly. "I’ve seen Toto, we’ve talked several times and we have a great relationship. But there's nothing else to say at the moment,” he continued.

After questioned whether any progress has been, Hamilton responeded: "Yeah. Nothing else new to add to it."

'Don't know whether it suits us'

Regarding his car, the Briton said that he is not sure about Mercedes will be a challenger for the podium unlike in Barcelona, but hopes that the rain can change a lot at the track where he has been proved to be successful at.

"We've just been making progress in the car. [Since the] last race we've all been buzzing, I think, back at the factory. The whole team has this new energy and we feel like we've got a North Star. We know where we're going, we know how to get there. I'm excited to come here. We generally don't know whether this track suits our car and the car's characteristics, but the weather may change that and we'll see,” said the seven-time Canadian Grand Prix winner.

There are only 2 ways about it. Either lewis will sign or he will retire. We dont even know for a fact if negotiations are on because the delay has just contradicted toto and lewis' statements. So, are they even on the table? If no, then there will always be delays until announcement of retirement. If YES, then lewis will definitely continue with mercedes because no other top team is interested in him. One thing is for sure, that lewis and toto are just toying with the media.

Quite clearly they cannot agree on a number!
Toto should just sign Lando for 3 obvious reason:
1. Lando is more marketable,
2. Lando will be cheaper, and,
3. Lando is quicker.

It's just not fair of Lewis doing this.

Mech, Bret f1isback and co are going to be having kittens shortly if they don't get the news pronto.

Are they really that jealous of what is in Hamilton's pocket?

Or continue to enjoy the comical entertainment this is providing being a more accurate observation.
Let's leave the kittens to the Lewis fans with every day that passes and still no confirmation Lewis isn't retiring.
How long do you think it would have taken Toto to sign Max up if he was available?
I can tell you now how I believe it would probably go;
Toto - "Max, tell me how much you want and I'll have the contract to you in 30 mins. Skip the coffee"
