Hamilton’s contract news: ‘Great relationship, nothing else to say'
For Lewis Hamilton, talk about a new contract has been in the air for weeks. Every weekend, both the seven-time world champion and Mercedes’ team principal, Toto Wolff, get asked about when will he sign his new deal.
At the Thursday press conference in Montreal, the seven-time world champion has not cleared up anything regarding his contract situation. "We never hooked up. No, we never had pizza," Hamilton said jokingly. "I’ve seen Toto, we’ve talked several times and we have a great relationship. But there's nothing else to say at the moment,” he continued.
After questioned whether any progress has been, Hamilton responeded: "Yeah. Nothing else new to add to it."
'Don't know whether it suits us'
Regarding his car, the Briton said that he is not sure about Mercedes will be a challenger for the podium unlike in Barcelona, but hopes that the rain can change a lot at the track where he has been proved to be successful at.
"We've just been making progress in the car. [Since the] last race we've all been buzzing, I think, back at the factory. The whole team has this new energy and we feel like we've got a North Star. We know where we're going, we know how to get there. I'm excited to come here. We generally don't know whether this track suits our car and the car's characteristics, but the weather may change that and we'll see,” said the seven-time Canadian Grand Prix winner.
