Hamilton not blazing after Mercedes one-two: 'The car was okay'
- Toby McLuskie
Mercedes closed the second free practice for the Canadian Grand Prix with a surprising one-two. Lewis Hamilton, however, has some comments for his team.
After the session, Hamilton does not sound blazingly enthusiastic. "The car was okay," the Mercedes driver began at Sky Sports. "This is probably the bumpiest track for a long time. It was a weird day because we missed the first session. I felt sorry for the fans."
Hamilton not entirely satisfied
He himself was also not happy with the missed time from FP1, which was partly added to the time for FP2. "I don't know what happened with the cameras, but I'm glad we could still go out and it was nice to have 90 minutes, we haven't had that for a long time," Hamilton continued.
However, he is not entirely satisfied with the way the extra time was used. "I didn't feel the time was used to its full potential," he continued, "but I love driving at this track, it's great. The car didn't feel bad, but we still have some work to do. It didn't feel great, but it didn't feel bad either. It's just bumpy, so we need to improve our handling."
If Mercedes succeeds in that, Hamilton does feel confident about the rest of the Formula 1 weekend. "It's much better than last year. I feel the improvements we felt in Monaco here too. I love rain, so we are going to try to have fun," he said after the rainy final minutes of FP2.
