No bad blood with Magnussen after incident with De Vries: 'Shit happens'
Kevin Magnussen had a collision with Nyck de Vries during the Canadian Grand Prix. The two went off the track together. In Magnussen's eyes by the Dutchman, although the Dane does not make a big deal of it.
De Vries and Magnussen were not driving near points, but were fighting for a place together. The AlphaTauri driver tried to pass Magnussen at the first chicane, but was unsuccessful. The Dane would not budge and so they headed for the next corner together. There, De Vries braked, causing both drivers to skid off the track.
Magnussen points at De Vries
''I think he just missed his braking point and went straight ahead. I was on the outside of him, so I couldn't steer into the corner. So I drove with him, even though I had braked in time to make the corner, but I couldn't go anywhere because he blocked his wheels. Unfortunate, but we were nowhere near points anyway,'' Magnussen told Viaplay after the race.
Asked if he would classify it as a race incident, the Haas driver kept quiet. ''I haven't seen it yet. He was on the inside when braking, but I think he just out braked himself. Shit happens....'', Magnussen concludes in his own way.
