Perez wants to hit back in Austria: 'Must take step to achieve that'
This weekend sees Red Bull Racing's home race in Austria. Sergio Perez is looking forward to the sprint weekend in Spielberg and wants to achieve the same as during the sprint weekend in Baku, where the Mexican won both the sprint race and the main race.
Perez amazed at Mexican fans in Austria
It is well known that a huge number of Max Verstappen's fans always travel to the Red Bull Ring, but there are also always a lot of Mexican fans present at the Grand Prix weekend in Austria, which Perez finds nice to see. "It’s always a great race in Austria, it’s obviously the home of Red Bull and that makes it extra special for all of us in the Team. I also can’t believe how many Mexican fans make the trip, every year on the green carpet arriving into the circuit I see the Mexico flag, which makes me smile. "
Perez wants to win in Austria
Teammate Verstappen has now won four races in a row in Formula 1 and Perez hopes to end the Dutchman's successful run in Austria. "I had fun at the last Sprint weekend in Baku and it was a very successful time but at a very different circuit. I want to achieve the same again but know I need to step up to achieve that," Perez said in a Red Bull press release.
"I know how important it is for me to have a consistent weekend and really produce a result, I know I am capable of. The weather looks like it could be tricky and it’s a Sprint weekend so time in the car to set-up will be minimal and critical, we must maximise every moment we have to prepare."
