Norris ecstatic with P2 finish in qualifying: 'Max, he ruins everything!'
- Toby McLuskie
Lando Norris will start from the front row of the grid tomorrow, joining Max Verstappen, as he claimed P2 in qualifying today at the British Grand Prix. After the session, the Brit couldn't stop smiling whilst speaking to Jenson Button.
"I was close!" exclaimed the McLaren driver. "P1 in Q1, P1 in Q2 and two-tenths off P1 in Q3, pretty insane. My last lap was a good lap and I could hear Zak on the radio on the in-lap which was the best thing ever."
He was joined in the celebrations by his teammate Oscar Piastri, who will start from third in the race tomorrow. Norris explained his thoughts on the teams' performance but also joked about his good mate Verstappen, who stole pole position from him: "Great for myself but for both of us, to be second and third is great for the whole team. It's always Max [on pole], he always ruins everything for everyone!"
To round out, he praised the British crowd and the great support they've shown so far, he said, "thanks to the crowd, it's been a special day for us. [I'm] looking forward to tomorrow, today makes up for everything, all the hard work we've been putting in. Especially here with the new livery, home race for the team and myself, we couldn't have had a better result apart from Max, he ruins everything!"
