Verstappen not concerned with lists: 'More than I could dream of as a kid'

Max Verstappen is on his way to becoming one of the greatest Formula 1 drivers of all time. The Dutchman is only 25 years old, but already has 43 victories and two world titles under his belt. His third title seems to be just a formality. Verstappen remains very 'down to earth' despite all his successes.
The current F1 season has 12 races left. Should the Limburger win ten of them, he would match Sebastian Vettel (53 wins) as the third driver with the most wins at the age of 26. He would then be ahead of only greats Michael Schumacher (91) and Lewis Hamilton (103). Verstappen is not at all concerned with all those statistics, he says in conversation with Channel 4."It is a great achievement, but I am already proud of where I am now," he says.
After all, according to the Red Bull driver, it is also a matter of luck:"You have to have that in this sport. That you are at the right team, for a long time. I am fortunate to be in that position." But topping off all the lists is not necessary for Verstappen. "I’m already very happy with what I have achieved and it is already more than I could’ve dreamt of as a little kid."
Father-in-law does better
Verstappen, then, is not going to walk beside his shoes. He was jokingly asked if his girlfriend, Kelly Piquet, daughter of Nelson, calls him 'two-time world champion Max Verstappen', or just 'Max'. "Definitely not that first one!", laughs the world champion. "It's all not that impressive for her." She is used to it, after all:"Her father is a three-time world champion, so I'm still catching up!"
