Nyck de Vries has been ejected from AlphaTauri's Formula 1 car. His performance was not satisfactory, according to Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko. Former Formula 1 driver Robert Doornbos already saw the departure of the Dutch De Vries coming. He thinks the Dutchman's Formula 1 career is finished.

"Formula 1 remains the elite of motorsport. It is the highest achievement. It's eat or be eaten. It's just a rock-hard sport. His career is not over, but in Formula 1, I think," Doornbos told the talk show Renze.

Doornbos on ruthlessness Red Bull

"It's dickish, because someone loses his job. Nyck and his family have worked very hard to get here. Formula 1 is and remains a boyhood dream for every young driver. In the end, Red Bull is always tough in that decision. They expected more from him with the experience he has at all the teams he has tested at," Doornbos said.

The end of De Vries in an AlphaTauri Formula One car marked the beginning of era Daniel Ricciardo in the AlphaTauri. The 34-year-old Australian takes over from the Dutchman and gets to prove himself again in a Formula 1 car. Recently, he already did Pirelli testing at Silverstone.
