The new qualifying format means Formula 1 drivers will have to drive on three different tyres. At least, the driver who get into Q3. If the track is declared for dry, drivers must start Q1 on the hard tyres. Q2 should be run on the mediums and then Q3 on the soft tyres.
After the weekend of the Italian Grand Prix, the FIA, F1 and the teams will decide what will happen to the format next year. In a press release, Mario Isola says the format would offer many more strategies during the race.
