George Russell fails to make it out of Q1 in Hungary
George Russell has failed to escape Q1 for the Hungarian Grand Prix. The pole-sitter for last year's Hungarian Grand Prix got caught in the sector three traffic going into the final run of the session. Russell will start the 2023 Hungarian Grand Prix from P18.
Russell out in Q1 Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying
Going into the final lap, around 10 drivers queued to give themselves space for the final push lap. Russell left a big gap to his teammate Lewis Hamilton, but several cars then pushed forward. Russell was caught out by this and ruined the opening sector of his lap. He wasn't quick enough to escape the drop zone, leaving Toto Wolff and Mercedes plenty to analyse overnight. Qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix continues.
