Vasseur on Massa trial: 'Circumstances were exceptional'
Last week, it was announced that Felipe Massa has taken the first legal action for losing the 2008 world title. The Brazilian was driving for Ferrari's team at the time. Current Scuderia team boss Frederic Vasseur wants to say as little as possible about the issue.
Vasseur responds to situation
Earlier it seemed that Massa wanted to dethrone Lewis Hamilton as 2008 champion, but now it is about compensation. Massa lost the 2008 title partly because of the scandal at the Singapore Grand Prix (aka 'crashgate'), here Nelson Piquet Jr. deliberately crashed, which he admitted in 2009. The Brazilian has been taking action since the statements by Bernie Ecclestone, the then F1 boss. Ecclestone told early this year that he knew about 'crashgate' back in 2008.
Current Ferrari team boss Vasseur wants as little to do with the situation as possible. "As you can imagine, I don't want to make any comment on this matter. I have a good relationship with all the stakeholders of this story, and it's quite tricky. First of all, the circumstances were completely exceptional. But more generally, and not about Felipe, I think we are also trying to push the FIA to know the result of the event at the chequered flag. I don't know, I don't want to make any comment, but for sure it would be strange," Vasseur told GPblog.
