Honda have closed the power deficit between them and Mercedes and Ferrari even more, according to the Italian branch of Motorsport, with the Japanese power unit reportedly only being behind 20 horsepower now.

The new goal of Honda is to get the best out of their engine in qualifying rounds as well as in the race. Toro Rosso drove the newest spec of the Honda engine in Honda's home country Japan and had their best qualifying performance of the year. Brendon Hartley finished P6 and Pierre Gasly in P7, which is a great leap in qualifying performance.

In the remaining four Grands Prix Honda isn't planning to introduce any more new upgrades to the power unit, but rumours have it that during the testing days in Abu Dhabi they'll have a new and improved engine to be tested with.

Could this mean that Red Bull can challenge for the title next season with a Honda engine in the back of the RB15? Or is it too soon for them?
