Lando Norris made a shock exit in Q1 in qualifying for the Mexican Grand Prix, as he struggled to find a strong lap time and dealt with an unlucky yellow flag. Despite that, the Brit placed the blame on himself for not putting a lap together when needed.

"I got told to box for some reason [on the medium tyres]. The pace was good," he told Sky Sports after exiting in Q1, before adding: "I got told to box, so something obviously wasn't right but that wasn't a problem, I just made some mistakes on the one lap that I had and obviously, there was a yellow in the end from Fernando."

The McLaren driver was clearly frustrated with his performance and rounded off by saying: "So that one opportunity, that one lap that I was given, I didn't put it together. I had one lap and I didn't do it, so it's on me."
