Toto Wolff does not rule out any involvement in Manchester United
After it has been announced that Ineos’ owner and founder Jim Ratcliffe is on the edge of investing in Manchester United, Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff was asked if he would be investing in the Red Devils in the future.
Toto Wolff knows Jim Ratcliffe well and moreover, Ineos is a sponsor of Mercedes. "Jim has shared the trajectory with me. I very much respect his values and we trust each other. Our personal relationship is strong and with Ola Kallenius (Mercedes-Benz chief executive), they call us the Three Amigos because we live in the no-nonsense world," the Austrian team principal told the Press Association.
He added: "If we felt I could contribute, then I would consider joining him at Manchester United."
Wolff's Respect for Jim
However, at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, Wolff also underlined that a potential deal is not something that is happening at the moment. "He's such a clever person. If I could contribute with him to have a chat, but no, that's very far away."
While it was pointed out that Wolff is now a billionaire, he also said: "It's not cash in the pocket. Some valuation."
Unlike Radcliffe himself, the Austrian does not have a personal connection to the team. "I'm a Premier League fan. I think it's the toughest environment. I'm a bit of a Guardiola fan."
As of now, Ratcliffe's deal has not been finalised by the Glazer family, and it is unknown whether the Ineos would eventually buy more stakes in the team and whether Toto Wolff would be a part of that.
