Max Verstappen won the sprint race in Brazil, once again beating his 'rivals'. Sergio Perez also did good business for the world championship in the sprint. The Mexican finished third, which extended his lead to Lewis Hamilton in the battle for second place in the championship. Among the constructors, the AlphaTauri team did excellent business.
Perez picks up important points
Perez finished a race in the top three for the first time since the Italian Grand Prix. The Red Bull Racing driver could use that well after his disappointing home race in Mexico. His competitor for second place in the World Championship, Hamilto, had a tough sprint race and finished only seventh. The gap between the two drivers is now 24 points.
McLaren driver Lando Norris also did good business in the sprint for the world championship. The Brit scored seven points with his second place, closing the gap on Spaniards Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz, who scored zero and one point respectively. Currently, Norris is still sixth in the World Championship, but the fourth spot, currently held by Sainz, is approaching.
Mercedes trails Ferrari
The battle for second place in the Constructors' Championship is also exciting. Mercedes and Ferrari are close, but it was the German team that struck first at Interlagos. Mercedes scored seven points in the sprint race and Ferrari five. AlphaTauri scored very important points in the battle at the bottom of the championship with Yuki Tsunoda's sixth place. The Italian team is now three points ahead of ninth-placed Alfa Romeo.
