Due to the corona crisis there is not much to celebrate at the moment, even in the world of
Formula 1. Still, there might be a tiny party here and there. For example, there are several former Formula 1 drivers celebrating their birthdays on 25 April.
Felipe Massa, Jean-Eric Vergne and
Giedo van der Garde can all blow out three candles.
Felipe Massa is the veteran of the bunch. Today he turns 39. Of the three, he is the driver who most recently drove in Formula 1. His last season he drove for the Williams team in 2017. Of course he also gets congratulations from them.
Jean-Eric Vergne turns 30, making him the youngest of the bunch. He drove in Formula 1 for Toro Rosso untill 2014, where he was able to withstand his teammate Daniel Ricciardo for the first two years. After Red Bull chose Ricciardo as a replacement for Mark Webber, the Frenchman quickly disappeared to Formula E, where he became champion in the last two seasons.
Finally, today is also Giedo van der Garde's birthday. The Dutchman is now 35 and has had his racing career at a low level since his last attempt to drive for Sauber in 2015. He is still active in the LMP2 class with Racing Team Nederland and also works a lot as an analyst.
