F1 team bosses list Verstappen as best driver, Hamilton drops back
Max Verstappen has been named best driver of the year by Formula 1 team bosses for the third season in a row. Interestingly, Lewis Hamilton scored lower among team bosses than among drivers. Hamilton abstained from the vote, unlike his team boss Toto Wolff.
F1 team bosses vote Verstappen best driver
Formula1.com annually let both drivers and team bosses cast their votes on the - in their opinion - ten best F1 drivers of the past season. Among both drivers and team bosses, Verstappen was voted number one after his third world title, but with a notable difference in the voting: Toto Wolff took part in the voting, Hamilton did not.
Despite the fact that this also prevented Hamilton from putting himself in first place in his personal top ten, the 38-year-old Briton finished high up the rankings. He finished second behind Verstappen, one place higher than last year. Team bosses, however, were slightly less laudatory of the Mercedes driver.
They, too, voted Verstappen the best driver of the year, but according to the team bosses, it was not Hamilton but Fernando Alonso who impressed most after the Red Bull Racing driver. Lando Norris finishes in third place, ahead of Charles Leclerc. Hamilton can be found in fifth, dropping one place in the rankings compared to last year.
