Will Ferrari fight for the title in 2024? 'Then we have to do this!'
At first glance, it looked like Carlos Sainz had a fine season in 2023. The Spaniard was the only non-Red Bull driver to win a race, and he also managed to grab two pole positions. Yet the Ferrari driver tells As.com that his team will be making a lot of adjustments to the car in 2024.
For a long time, Sainz was ahead of his teammate Charles Leclerc in the world championship. That changed at the end of the season. Nevertheless, the Spaniard still feels pretty good about his season: "My season has been solid. Although it didn't end the way I would have liked after a second half of the season in which it was going very well. But it has been solid, the team has made great progress and we have fought for more important things. That makes me proud, the team is taking steps forward and if we manage to take another one in 2024, we will be in the fight."
Sainz: 'The Ferrari has to change a lot in 2024'
When Sainz was asked about how much he hopes the car will be changed in 2024, he replied: "A lot. A lot has been said about the car being a good fit for me. To be honest, the car has not only given me headaches. For my teammate, for Ferrari, it's very difficult to understand. I don't like driving it, and I've had to try a lot of things on the set-up. I hope that in 2024 it will be more versatile and easier to drive and adjust, that we will have a better race car."
