The popular Netflix series about Formula 1: Drive to Survive has attracted a large new audience to F1. The docuseries offers a unique behind-the-scenes look at the sport, and the first five seasons are currently on Netflix. Will there also be a sixth season?

Season six of Drive to Survive on Netflix

Good news for Drive to Survive fans: a sixth season is coming up. During the 2023 F1 season, Netflix's camera crew attended every Grand Prix to shoot. In the run-up to the new season, viewers are already being warmed up with a new season of the docuseries. A release date has been confirmed as February 23 2024.

Verstappen to be seen again in Drive to Survive after criticism

In addition to praise, there is also a lot of criticism of the Netflix series. For example, Max Verstappen has repeatedly expressed criticism in the past about the way in which the producers intensify certain moments, putting some drivers in a negative light and creating rivalries that do not actually exist.

After a conversation with F1 boss Stefano Domenicali and the producers of the show, Verstappen took a milder stance and agreed to participate in the recording again. The Red Bull Racing driver can be viewed in the episodes of Drive to Survive, just like in the fifth season.

How is Drive to Survive made?

The Netflix camera team is a guest with the teams at race weekends and are often able to get closer to the action than anyone else, giving viewers a compelling feeling of what it's like to be at the top of motorsport. Not only are the F1 teams filming behind the scenes, the creators may also be present at some meetings that take place behind closed doors. That has already resulted in a number of unique moments, including a tough confrontation between Toto Wolff and Christian Horner during a briefing for the team bosses.
