FIA and Formula 1 will discuss investigation into Christian Horner
- Ludo van Denderen
The FIA and Formula 1 are talking internally this weekend about Red Bull's investigation into Christian Horner, Red Bull Racing's team boss. The Briton was cleared by a lawyer, who investigated allegations of inappropriate behaviour. Although Red Bull closed the case in Austria, some team bosses called for more transparency in the case on Thursday.
Formula 1 CEO Stefano Domenicali and FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem are to meet in Bahrain to discuss the unfolding situation, he has said. GPblog confirmed. This, incidentally, will be a regular - and therefore not an inserted - meeting, as it takes place every race weekend. But as mentioned, the subject of Horner is on the agenda.
Domenicali and Ben Sulayem received the email
On Thursday, Domenicali and Ben Sulayem also received an email from an anonymous account containing a link to 79 files of alleged WhatsApp traffic between Horner and the woman who made the complaint to her employer. For his part, Horner, on Thursday evening, reiterated his earlier statement that he had not engaged in any inappropriate behaviour.
""I won't comment on anonymous speculation, but to reiterate, I have always denied the allegations. I respected the integrity of the independent investigation and fully cooperated with it every step of the way. It was a thorough and fair investigation conducted by an independent specialist barrister and it has concluded, dismissing the complaint made. I remain fully focused on the start of the season," Horner said.
