Unprecedented divorce fight: McLaren demand $30 million from Palou
McLaren are demanding more than $30 million from Alex Palou. Palou, however, refuses to pay. A judge is due to decide who is right. The cause: the Spaniard's alleged breach of contract when he did not join McLaren's IndyCar team for 2024, but decided to stay with Chip Ganassi Racing
Palou became champion at Chip Ganassi in IndyCar last year and was actually supposed to race for McLaren this year. However, that did not happen and so the British formation are now demanding money. Lots of money.

McLaren claims that by failing to honour his agreement, Palou is responsible for O'Ward's $10.2 million salary increases and other related losses. This also includes $1.5 million because engine partner General Motors did not see Palou's replacement, David Malukas, as an 'A-level' driver. In addition, McLaren suffered an additional financial loss of more than $5 million by having to renegotiate a deal with new sponsor NTT, which previously sponsored Palou at Ganassi.
Alex Palou's legal team denies that liability, so a judge is going to look into the matter. To be continued...
