The 2024 Miami Grand Prix attracted the largest live U.S television audience in the history of Formula 1. An average of 3.1 million viewers watched Lando Norris' win in the United States. Norris became the first driver other than Verstappen to win in America since 2019.
With the arrival of the Netflix series Drive to Survive, Formula 1 has been on the rise in the United States. While F1 remained mainly in Europe during the coronavirus period, there are now three US circuits on the calendar. There is also an American driver driving in the premier class of motorsport, namely Logan Sargeant.
The Miami Grand Prix was added to the F1 calendar in 2022, and since 2023, the F1 circus has also travelled to Las Vegas to race on the iconic strip.
Miami GP breaks several records
Last weekend, the Miami Grand Prix took place for the third time. Despite all the criticism, this race did very well with the American public. According to various sources, this race attracted a total of 3.1 million viewers from the United States. That makes this Grand Prix the most watched race by the American public.
Although the battle between Lando Norris and Max Verstappen for victory was exciting, the Grand Prix had few overtaking actions. The race had a total of 41 overtaking actions and only six in the sprint race, meaning that the sprint race in Miami has become the sprint race with the fewest overtakes ever.
