Lando Norris still managed to make it incredibly exciting in Imola. The Brit managed to reduce a gap of over six seconds to one of seven-tenths in just 15 laps. It proved not enough for a win. What was going through Norris' head during those laps?

"I was just praying for one more lap," Norris said in the post-race press conference. He continued: "I did everything i could. I was pushing like hell to get there and catch up and have a chance. But as soon as I’d get within two seconds you start to lose grip and downforce."

The tyres were also starting to take their toll: "The tyres started to overheat and I kind of struggled again for a few laps. But once I understood how to drive again, I managed to get to seven tenths. One lap he even defended into turn one. Maybe something could’ve come from that but it was too late," Norris concluded with a clear statement: "It’s a shame but it is what it is."

Norris did good business

Norris is now fourth in the drivers' championship with 101 points, making him the fourth driver to break the 100 mark. Perez is above him, with a difference of six points, on 107. McLaren is now third with 154 points, well below Ferrari's number two.
