Former Formula 1 team owner Eddie Jordan, who is the manager of master designer Adrian Newey, firmly denies that Red Bull Racing's current chief technical officer has already signed a contract with Ferrari. Newey has been strongly linked with a move to the Italian team. Other F1 teams, however, are still hopeful they can bring him in.

Recently, 65-year-old Newey admitted for the first time that he is likely to go elsewhere in F1 after a well-earned holiday. Ferrari, Williams, Aston Martin, McLaren and Mercedes are all interested in Newey's services. According to the Daily Mail, talks with Ferrari are already at an advanced stage.

Jordan's strong reaction to Newey rumours

None of this is true at all, according to his manager Jordan. "It’s really very wrong to be so blatant about [Newey] joining a certain team," Jordan said in the Formula for Success podcast he co-presents with David Coulthard. "I’m speaking as someone who should know, and I’m not giving any information away, at no stage is any of this kind of discussion happening.

"There will be talks, and there is going to be ongoing talks, because we have yet to decide what Adrian himself wants to do," the former F1 team owner adds. He stresses that Newey will enjoy his time off, first and foremost. "Let us be very clear, it will always be Adrian’s decision – and so it should be – but there is no clear call."

Jordan stresses again that rumours of signed contracts aren't accurate. "I can give my absolute life on that," the 76-year-old Irishman says firmly. "There is no inclination to go in any particular way in the moment, we are looking at the opportunities and we are letting people come to talk to us."
