Here's why Leclerc is feeling hopeful: 'It will be a good one this weekend'
- Tygo Bekkema
Leclerc is on pole position for the third time in Monaco on Saturday. The previous two times he secured pole at home, he was unable to convert it into a race victory. Despite this, the home driver feels no extra pressure to win the race this year. In fact, he argues that the most stressful moment of the season is already behind him.
"I think the peak of the tension, actually of the whole season, I would say, is qualifying in Monaco. Then for the race, you are more relaxed just because the race, you've got to focus on the start, you've got to focus around the pit stop, because obviously the laps around the pit stop are extremely important," Leclerc stated in the post-qualifying press conference.
Bad luck in Monte-Carlo for the home hero
Leclerc generally doesn't have fond memories of racing at home in Monaco. He says those moments no longer matter, however, as he is just focusing on what's in front of him. "It is true that in the past we didn't have the success that we wanted, but I don't want to think about that anymore. And I'm pretty sure that it will be a good one this weekend."
