Who is Charles Leclerc's dad Hervé Leclerc?
After Charles Leclerc took victory at the Monaco Grand Prix in 2024, the Monegasque was full of emotion hearing his national anthem on the top step of the podium in the place he grew up. Leclerc also said that during the final few laps, there were tears in his eyes thinking about his friends and family, especially his late father, Hervé Leclerc.
Who is Hervé Leclerc?
Hervé Leclerc was borning on 7 March 1963. He is the father of F1 driver Charles Leclerc, as well as his eldest son Lorenzo Leclerc, and his youngest son Arthur Leclerc, a current development driver for Ferrari and European Le Mans Series driver for Panis Racing. Hervé was a former professional motorsport driver in the 1980s, competing in 22 races between 1983 and 1988.
Hervé's professional career started in 1983, competing in one race in the Formula 3 Italy series, racing for Ecole Avia La Chatre. Three years later in 1986, he competed against F1 driver Jean Alesi in Formula 3 France, competing in ten races for the team Jacky Carmignon, but he was unable to score any points.
He competed in the same series a year later in 1987, against Alesi again. Hervé competed in ten races again, but he was unable to score a single point again. His final race of his professional career came at the Monaco Grand Prix in Formula 3, racing for AA Sport, finishing in 8th place, a non-scoring position.
Hervé was 54 years old when he passed away after a long battle with illness, just four days before Charles' triumph in the 2017 Baku Formula 2 feature race. Before his passing, Hervé helped both Charles and Arthur through the lower levels of motorsport to reach the professional ranks, and they both always pay tribute to their father for his support.
