This is why Leclerc believes Vasseur will help Ferrari become champions
Frederic Vasseur joined Ferrari in 2023 and since then has aimed to turn things around for the Italian team. This has included signing Charles Leclerc on a multi-year contract, alongside the notorious signing of Lewis Hamilton from 2025. It has also been rumoured that he is set to sign Adrian Newey from Red Bull, and has already secured deals with many other personnel from Mercedes. For Leclerc, he confident that Vasseur is the right person to bring Ferrari back to where they belong.
In the last few years, Ferrari have fluctuated between finishing second and third in the constructors championship. However, this year, they look to become championship challengers, with the team being just 24 points behind Red Bull. Last season, Ferrari were the only other team to win a race alongside the Austrian team. However, this year, they have won two already with Carlos Sainz winning in Australia, and Leclerc in Monaco.
Speaking at Sunday's post-race press conference, Leclerc confirmed that he believes Vasseur has got all the right pieces in place to bring Ferrari back to being a championship winning team: "I have no doubts. I think since the day he joined and that he's got verything to bring back the team to where it belongs and that means to a world championship. He's got such a clear vision of what he wants to achieve and how to achieve it."
'I have no doubt that he's the right person'
Fans are certainly excited already for the arrival of Hamilton in 2025, who will be replacing Sainz. Vasseur also helped Leclerc win his first home race in Monaco on Sunday, despite starting on pole three times in the past and failing to convert to a win. For Leclerc, the team boss' plans seem to be working: "I think his vision is really good. We share it very often, on how he wants to achieve those targets."
"I've always been completely aligned with the way he wants to change things to get to where we want to get. I have no doubt that he's the right person and that he's helping the team to get there," he added.
