For this weekend's Canadian Grand Prix, Formula 1 have worked with their partner AWS to design a new trophy. Instead of working though with a designer, they have been generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI). This is the first time Formula 1 has used a generative AI-inspired F1 trophy.

Formula 1 aims to introduce AI through AWS tools to introduce further creativity and solutions throughout the sport. As a result, this has led to the first ever AI generated F1 trophy, which will be debuted after the race on Sunday. Formula 1 and AWS are also inviting fans to get involved and use the software to create their own, in exchange for a chance to win tickets to a 2025 Grand Prix.

In a statement on the Formula 1 website, Chief Commerical Officer Emily Prazer said: "For over six years, AWS has been an invaluable partner, revolutionising the use of data to enhance how we operate across the sport. AWS’s commitment to innovation enables us to help push the sport forward and we’re excited to see the first-ever generative AI-inspired trophy on display in Canada this weekend and give fans the opportunity to showcase their love for F1 through the design of their own trophy.”

What will the trophy look like?

Although the design is yet to be revealed, it is said that AWS explored "traditional, elegant trophy designs" and was inspired by the research that went into the development of the 2022 F1 car, which AWS cloud technology helped to design. It featured a maple leaf and Montreal's St. Lawrence River. The trophy itself has been crafted in the UK. The trophy will be unveiled on Sunday.
