Could Perez bounce back in Barcelona? 'Just need a simple weekend'
Before Red Bull have announced a contract extension for Sergio Perez, the Mexican was coming off of two disappointing weekends in Imola and Monaco. With the ease of knowing where he will race in the future, Sergio Perez once again got eliminated in Q1 and then also found himself in the wall during the race in Canada. The Mexican answers what he needs to bounce back in Barcelona.
"I think just having a straightforward weekend," Sergio Perez told GPblog among other selected media on what he needs to bounce back, after not making through to Q3 in the last three weekends and also crashing out the last two Grands Prix.
Perez continued: "We had a car issue in qualifying [in Canada] with these margins. You can be knocked out in Q1 with very small margins, so just having a straightforward weekend. I think the pace is there, the confidence is there. I'm really going to take my time to analyse everything together with the team and make sure that we are able to come back strong."
The Mexican driver expects another hard challenge at the Spanish Grand Prix. "I think things are a lot closer than [last year]. So, I think Barcelona will be, again, I think the rest of the year, it's all going to be very close. They're getting a lot closer to us. So, we just have to be perfect and make sure that we are able to put it all together," Perez said about the upcoming Formula One weekend.
