Police rule on sabotage email about Hamilton and Mercedes
Toto Wolff recently revealed that charges had been filed in response to an anonymous e-mail claiming that Hamilton had been sabotaged since he announced his switch to Ferrari. Police have since investigated the message and shared their conclusions with the German Formula One team.
"Northamptonshire Police received a report on June 12 regarding an email that had been circulated within the Mercedes AMG F1 Team. No criminal offences were found to have been committed however advice was given regarding any further emails the team may receive," a Northamptonshire Police spokeswoman let news agency PA known.
The e-mail accused Wolff of "vindictiveness" and claimed that the Austrian is 'doing all he can to get back at Hamilton' because the seven-time world champion chose to leave Mercedes for Ferrari. Wolff reacted furiously to the email, saying he was sure the message did not come from his own organisation. The Mercedes team boss claimed to have "zero respect" for conspiracy theorists.
