Helmut Marko recently hinted at a driver change at
Visa Cash App RB. The
Red Bull Racing adviser put forward Liam Lawson as the logical choice alongside
Yuki Tsunoda, seeming to write off
Daniel Ricciardo. Marko seems confident, as he repeats his words and even reinforces them.
Marko recently stated that shareholders want two young drivers at the team and that Lawson would be the logical choice for the seat next to Tsunoda in the 2025
Formula 1 season. Ricciardo, who has so far mostly had to acknowledge his superiority to Tsunoda, would have to give way in that case.
Marko: 'Lawson the logical choice for RB'
Asked again about the situation at Red Bull's sister team, the 81-year-old Austrian reiterated his earlier statement. "Racing Bulls is a junior team. So it is logical that the shareholders would like to see Liam Lawson in the cockpit," Marko said in conversation with Kronen Zeitung.
According to Marko, team boss
Christian Horner' s plan was to bring Daniel Ricciardo back to Red Bull, to re-enter the seat next to
Max Verstappen. That plan is now off the table, as the Austrian
F1 team has committed
Sergio Perez for next year. "
Ricciardo should be two or three tenths faster than Yuki Tsunoda, but at the moment things are not going the way team boss Horner imagined," Marko concluded.
