For years, they dominated Formula 1, fighting bitter battles. It was the time when world titles were shared between Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel. The German has since long since retired from motorsport, but Vettel has not lost sight of his rival of the past. The four-time champion therefore congratulated Hamilton on Sunday after his victory in the British Grand Prix.

No less than 104 Grand Prix victories Hamilton now has to his name, quite a number more than Vettel. The German himself came to 53 wins in Formula 1. This also puts Vettel behind Michael Schumacher (91) and Max Verstappen (61). Then also looking at Hamilton's number of world titles (seven, as many as Schumacher), there is often the discussion: who is the best ever in Formula 1?

In his congratulatory post to Hamilton, Vettel took a stand on that. Indeed, next to the 'Congratulations Lewis', the German wrote GOAT (Greatest of all time). In terms of numbers, there is nothing wrong with that. In any case, the fact is that Max Verstappen has a long way to go to get Hamilton out of the record books; both in terms of world titles and wins.
