Hamilton gets Dutch support after questioning 'acted' behaviour
- Jeroen Immink
Lewis Hamilton finally managed to win another race last weekend. After two seasons without a win, the seven-time world champion took victory in spectacular fashion at the British Grand Prix at his home circuit Silverstone. After the race, Hamilton's tears were visible.
Hamilton's behaviour has often been called into question. But former Formula 1 driver Jan Lammers does not believe there is an actor lurking in Hamilton. "I don't see that acting like that," Lammers reveals in the NOS' Formula 1 podcast. "Sometimes it may sound a bit dejected and you name it. But I think he is like that. On the contrary, I think he is very transparent and doesn't do the corporate story."
Formula 1 already has six different Grand Prix winners this season. Despite Max Verstappen being 84 points clear in the championship, the Dutchman has to work hard for victories unlike in 2023. This led to great pleasure for Lammers as the Grand Prix at Silverstone was another spectacular race. "I loved it. What a luxury that we were so spoilt with Max. All the wins came at us like confetti. But just like in Miami, you think, 'How nice that Norris also wins once'. Now I think out of a form of respect also from Max for Hamilton, That he wins in his last year in front of his own crowd. He drove really well, this is what England wants. Max also sees the positive in this," Lammers said.
