Verstappen less likely to leave Red Bull after modified contract Marko
Helmut Marko 's contract has been amended, leaving the Austrian linked to Red Bull Racing until 2026 anyway. Following a report by De Telegraaf, Red Bull has also confirmed this to GPblog.
Marko has revealed in Hungary that his commitment has changed. The Dutch newspaper reported that via and so-called side-letter, it has been made official that Marko is committed to Red Bull until 2026. Marko already had a contract, but a clause in the contract allowed Max Verstappen to leave immediately if Marko was fired. That clause is now no longer in the contract, Red Bull confirmed to GPblog in Hungary.
Red Bull commits Marko for longer
The news comes after a power struggle that has been going on within Red Bull Racing for some time. A battle in which Christian Horner has already wanted to say goodbye to Marko several times, but was always blocked. Now Red Bull hopes to create peace in the tent with a new deal for Marko and thus also keep Max Verstappen on board for longer. Even Jos Verstappen and Christian Horner are 'on speaking terms' again after their earlier clash in Austria.
The adjustment in Helmut Marko's contract ensures that Max Verstappen cannot simply walk away from Red Bull Racing, meaning Toto Wolff may also have to look further afield.
