Sargeant is furious with Ericsson: 'He has a reputation of that'
Logan Sargeant has snapped back at Marcus Ericsson ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix. The American driver also shut down Ericsson's claims to prove the IndyCar driver wrong.
Previously, Ericsson stated that Sargeant's relationship with Williams boss James Vowles was under strain and that the two no longer speak to each other. This came in light of Sargeant's future in Formula 1 looking bleak as Vowles signed an extension with Alex Albon and openly expressed his number one target was Carlos Sainz for the second seat.
How Sargeant snapped back at Ericcson
"Marcus Ericsson has a reputation of talking about other people without ever even having a conversation with me in his life. Yeah, it doesn't carry any weight. It's not true. I just had a conversation with James here 20 minutes ago. "Most importantly me and James, we both come here and we want to do the best for the team," Sargeant told GPblog and others in the paddock ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix.
"We both work in the same direction for what is the best for the team. And ultimately, what's best for the team is best for me. So it's just it's completely untrue. It hasn't been a particularly easy season with the amount of things that have happened, both to me, you know, from a team perspective we've struggled in some areas. It can look like our relationship's worsened but we just go to work as usual and keep trying to perform the rest of the weekend."
Sargeant himself could be an IndyCar driver next season, where debutant Prema Racing wants to give him a chance. The American has been linked to the team for next season. But for now, Sargeant's focus will be with Williams in Belgium.
