19 August at 22:00

As the Formula 1 season gets ready to restart, a number of key storylines are starting to bubble up. That includes Adrian Newey's destination and the World Championship battle that could happen over the next ten races. Here's a round up of the stories from today.

Extra attraction for Newey?

The Newey saga has been one of, if not the biggest story in the F1 world since the shocking announcement he would leave Red Bull at the Miami Grand Prix. The legendary F1 designer has won 13 drivers and 12 constructors' championships with Red Bull, McLaren and Williams. Former F1 team manager and journalist Peter Windsor has weighed in on the Newey speculation. He believes that one person has had a clear influence over his future.

How Lewis Hamilton can end up saving Verstappen and Red Bull's bacon

Mercedes drivers George Russell and Lewis Hamilton could offer a lifeline to Red Bull, Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez during the rest of the 2024 Formula 1 season. With 10 Grands Prix weekends left on the schedule, Red Bull are heading into a battle with McLaren. And Mercedes could be the ones to salvage things for Red Bull. Here's how.

Kelly Piquet shares beautiful photos of Max Verstappen and Penelope

Max Verstappen seems to have had a fine summer break. The three-time world champion spent his summer holidays with his girlfriend Kelly Piquet and family. Verstappen seems fully charged up for the remainder of the current Formula 1 season.

Verstappen seemed to require a holiday. Of the last five races before the summer break, he managed to win only one. That resulted in a lot of frustration over his radio. So, for the Dutchman and for Red Bull Racing, the summer break came at the right time. Verstappen still holds a comfortable 78-point lead over Lando Norris. Next weekend, the Dutch GP is on the programme. Since the race was reintroduced at Zandvoort in 2021, Verstappen has managed to win all three editions. Check them out here.

Perez changes race engineer

GPblog can confirm that Perez will get another race engineer at Zandvoort. Bird is going on paternity leave and will be temporarily absent for that reason. Bird will still be present during the Dutch GP to supervise, but after that, he will not attend any Formula 1 races for the time being. Here's the full story.
