New Ferrari technical director to be revealed 'Roughly after Monza'
- Corwin Kunst
Frederic Vasseur appears to confirm in an interview with Corriere della Sera that Adrian Newey will not be joining the Ferrari team. However, a new technical director has been recruited, whose name will be announced soon.
"I have always said that the team comes first," Vasseur told the Italian newspaper when asked 'what happened to Newey'. "That applies to the engineers, the drivers and everyone. It is not the sum of talents that produces results, but the right combination of factors. Paris Saint-Germain has always attracted the best footballers and yet they have never won the Champions League. We, on the other hand, are on the right track."
Since joining the team in early 2023, Vasseur has been busy recruiting, even though the team boss is confident in the current group. "I am also convinced that reinforcements are needed. In fact, we hired 60 people in 12 months without advertising. The only one spoken about is Loïc Serra (former engineer at Mercedes)."
Who else is on the way to Ferrari?
A second name will soon be revealed by Ferrari. Vasseur reveals that a technical director has been recruited. "That one will come from outside. We will announce it roughly after Monza." Ferrari's previous chassis technical director, Enrico Cardile, left Ferrari in July for Aston Martin. He will start his role at the Silverstone-based team in 2025.
