Sainz loses meaningful running and drops OUT of FP2: Here's why!
- Estéban den Toom
The second free practice session for Carlos Sainz was shorter than planned. After the red flag was flown in Zandvoort following Nico Hulkenberg's crash at turn one, it did not take long for the Spaniard to drive his final lap of the day either. Due to problems with the SF-24, Sainz put his Ferrari back in the pit box during the second practice session on Friday.
Sainz already warned his team via his onboard radio, "Check the gearbox. There is something with the gearbox. It stayed in seventh gear," Sainz said a few minutes before coming in. Word soon came out through the team that Sainz would not be taking part in any further action.
"The session is over for Carlos due to a gearbox problem," the Italian team just revealed to GPblog.
