Scary moment in the pits for Gasly and Alpine

Scary moment in the pit lane: FIA note unsafe release

25 August at 14:48

Pierre Gasly came in for a routine pitstop, but things nearly went wrong. The Alpine team changed the tyres for Gasly, but one mechanic still had their hands very close to the car when the Frenchman started moving. Fortunately, the mechanic pulled their hand out of the way just in time to avoid an incident.

The FIA noted the incident but decided no further investigation was required. Gasly did slow down when he released the situation. Once everything was clear, he returned to the fast lane and carried on as normal.

The stewards later placed Lance Stroll under investigation for speeding in the pit lane. Follow the liveblog with GPblog for more updates. On lap 38, Lando Norris has a comfortable lead over Max Verstappen
